You Are Here: Home - - Peugeot EX1 Concept sets new electric car record at Nürburgring

Electric 'supercars' are becoming more popular though they may never replace the petrol burning beasts we see today. But here's an example of what these latest technology electric vehicles are capable of. The Peugeot EX1 Concept has set a new record for an electric car on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.

Driver Stéphane Caillet took just 9 minutes and 1.338 seconds to lap the electric racer around the 20.8 km (12 mile) Nordschleife track. The car clocked an average speed of 138,324 km/h (85.9 mph) on the run.

The topless fully functional concept car beats the previous record for an electric vehicle on the Nordschleife track by over 50 seconds. Unfortunately we don't have a video yet!

PSN back online within a week

PlayStation Network have resumed some PSN services as promised on Sunday, probably not the way we were expecting. It is confirmed that PSN is back up in Japan, hopefully the UK, the US and other regions will follow shortly. Sony announced that online gameplay for PlayStation 3 and PSP and access to account management features will go live this week. However, other features, such as the downloadable games shop, will not come back online until later this month.

After a major security breach, it seems that Sony is finally managing to contain the situation over at PSN. In addition, Sony is starting its worldwide program called "Welcome Back" and as a part of that program, Sony will give its current users one free month of their premium PSN service called Play Station Network Plus.

In addition, Sony will make certain PlayStation entertainment content free to its users, although that content may vary by region. As for the PSN and Qriocity, we should see them back online this week with improved security.  PSN users are advised to update to a new version of firmware and to change their passwords as soon as possible. Although Sony claims that credit card information wasn't stolen, PSN users are advised to keep a close look on their credit cards.

It seems that PSN will be back soon enough, and we're glad that everything worked out well for Sony and its users.

Sony Online Entertainment service has taken offline

According to the New York Reuters, Sony Online Entertainment has temporarily shut down its online games service and its Facebook games at 1:30am Pacific time on Monday. It has been reported that Sony Online Entertainment network is too appeared to have been hacked. Users' personal details and about 12,700 credit card numbers have been stolen from the SOE servers.

The Sony Online Entertainment network, used for massively multiplayer online games like EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies and Matrix Online, has been suspended temporarily, Sony said Monday. Add this to the 77 million accounts that may have been compromised last week, and Sony is responsible for one of the largest recorded data breaches.

On the positive side, Sony has said that the database accessed by the hacker is from 2007. Therefore, most of the credit cards information should have been expired by now.

There is no update on when SOE will be back up yet.
