EraThink EraPalm – combination of netbook and console

Posted: 13 Apr 2011 07:18 AM PDT

Looks good, but is misleading – the new EraThink EraPalm gadget is a console / PC hybrid it seems, but can do something else.

Displayed recently at the China Consumer Electronics Fair, the portable gadget runs on Windows 7 and has a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen of 800 x 480 resolution with support up to 1080p videos. Under it, is hiding gracefully a simple sliding QWERTY keyboard, providing increased functionality. With a ethernet port too, this mobile phone like portable gadget allows wire internet connection.

We know, from a touchscreen and a keyboard "with buttons", the latter would always be preferred. Now that we've sparked your interest, you should know that the EraPalm has an Atom Z processor, 3G, ethernet, HDMI, VGA and USB ports. EraThink EraPalm comes in an awesome side-slide form, and a QWERTY keyboard would appear after you slide out the display.

The gaming console has four dedicated buttons and supports ?UMPC (we need to confirm this). No words about the price and timing of availability as yet.
